Five Paths to the Podium

Every DECA member trains within one of five core event clusters. Each blends a proctored exam with a live roleplay or case study judged by business professionals, the same skills used in real boardrooms and consulting firms.

01

Business Management & Administration

Members tackle scenarios in operations, human resources, and organizational leadership: from managing a team conflict to designing a company policy. Events in this cluster test decision-making under pressure and knowledge of core management principles, delivered through timed roleplay in front of a judge.

02

Finance

Competitors work through financial analysis, banking operations, and investment case studies. Events range from personal financial literacy scenarios to corporate finance and risk-management roleplays, all built around real financial decision frameworks.

03

Marketing

Marketing events cover brand strategy, promotional campaigns, and consumer research. Members might pitch a product launch plan or respond to a market-research crisis, building the same strategic thinking used by agencies and in-house marketing teams.

04

Entrepreneurship

This cluster centers on new-venture creation: pitching an original business concept, defending a business plan, or navigating early-stage growth decisions. It's the most independent event track, often paired with a written business plan component.

05

Hospitality & Tourism

Members compete in scenarios drawn from restaurant management, lodging, and tourism operations: handling everything from guest-service recovery to event planning logistics, judged against real hospitality-industry standards.
